News from NRL memorabilia for 2010

WITH the Eels trailing 22-0 midway through the first half in Saturday night's match against Penrith, Parramatta chief executive Paul Osborne turned to Australian actor Simon Baker and accused him of being ''a jinx''.

Baker, who plays a psychic on The Mentalist is a big Parramatta fan and has attended several games this season. But he had not cheered home an Eels victory before the Jarryd Hayne-inspired 34-28 win - a result that equalled the club's biggest comeback and placed them on track to repeat last year's late surge to the finals.

''When we were down 22-0 things obviously weren't looking good, so I said to him 'you're a jinx','' Osborne said. ''We never win when he comes to watch us play, but the boys really dug deep and turned it around. It was a great win.''

MENTALIST star Simon Baker has picked up the piece of NRL memorabilia for 2010. As well as having his picture taken with a host of Eels stars after their comeback win against Penrith, Baker was handed the No. 1 jersey worn by man of the match Jarryd Hayne.

The Eels also gave Baker jerseys belonging to Nathan Hindmarsh and Fuifui Moimoi. Another signed Hayne jersey is also on its way to sprint ace Usain Bolt after his public advice to the besieged fullback has been followed by two peerless performances.
